The systematic education of college training laid a solid, broad and diverse foundation for Lam Tian Xing’s creative painting. Around the same time, in the late 1980s, influenced by Western modern art trends, Lam Tian Xing gradually began to explore his own individualised language in art. He deconstructed the elements of Chinese painting and sought the contemporary meaning of traditional landscape painting in the stripped colours and compositions. However, during the process of experimenting, he retains the use of brush strokes and ink and inherits the soul and essence of Chinese painting. Thus, he opened up a new unique field of vision in which the tradition ink and colour are transformed to become contemporary.
